Death Note

    The Death Note manga premiered in December of 2003, in the Weekly Shonen Jump, and the Death Note anime began airing in Japan on October 3, 2006.  Several live action films and video games were also made from this series, as well as a light novel.

    As a manner of Psychological Drama, Death Note is a very unusual series in which we follow the story of Yagami Light, as he finds the Death Note, as he begins to use it, and as he twists from the power corrupting him.  In a manner of speaking, you could say that the story depicts the 'bad guy' as the main character, while our antagonist is the 'good guy'..  But L himself didn't classify Kira as evil, but rather as an unfortunate soul that was cursed with an evil power.

    Our protagonist is Yagami Light, an extremely intelligent and popular young man with a very low outlook on the world..  Bored with the world, sitting in class, he notices a strange notebook seem to fall out of the sky. Investigating, he finds the Death Note, a shinigami's notebook capable of killing anyone whose name is written in it, dropped by the shinigami Ryuk.

    Yagami Light decides to use the Death Note to 'make the world a better place', by killing off violent criminals..  As time passes, however, his mindset degrades more and more.  His goal rapidly changes to making a world for those he's deemed worthy, as well as to thinking of himself as a god of his new world..  As time passes, he falls even further, to the point of being willing to use or sacrifice anything and anyone to reach his goals...
